January 16, 2011 - Breakfast at Crisfield

Today some of  the Essex Skypark pilots were flying down to Crisfield, Maryland for breakfast.   The temperature was in the 30's, not too bad.   In the end, only Brian& Fletcher in his Brian's Cherokee and myself & Whitey in the RV ended up going.

Brian wanted me to get an aerial shot of his Cheorkee.   We're headed south down the Eastern Shore.  It was kind of misty so the visibility was no great shakes.

On the ground at Crisfield Airport.  Bruce R. in his RV-8 showed up about 30 minutes  after us.

The Crisfield FBO.   The town, where the restaurants are, is a couple of miles from the airport.  We had planned on the restaurant providing transportation but it turns out the restaurant was closed for the season!  Fortunately, a local CGS Hawk pilot named Roger gave us a ride to and from the restaurant -- nice guy!

We had a nice breakfast at "The Cove".  30-40 years ago, Crisfield was known as the "Seafood Capitol of the World".  But its fortunes declined as the Bay was fished out.

Let's just say Bruce R. and I had fun on the way home, both our passengers not minding pulling some G's!

You know it has been a cold winter when the Chesapeake Bay starts icing up.

Essex Skypark is just under the nose, with the Back River iced up beyond.
